TIPS ON HOW TO STAY HEALTHY WHILE TRAVELING

1. I plan ahead of time. The the day before we leave on vacation I try to prep meals and snacks for the plane. Because my boys are picky eaters I am so grateful that they enjoy smoothies but when we are in the go, I always keep a variety of fruit/veggie pouches in my bag. My "go to" always have to have at least one vegetabl

e! They are big fans of purple so the ones they usually pick have yummy berries and hidden carrots.

I pack sandwiches and nuts as well. They love the organic cheese crackers and I usually buy a couple of organic muffins from the heath food store that they devour in moments. This will keep them busy for about 10 minutes on the airplane ride.

Once getting to the airport our big indulgence is a Starbucks coffee with some almond milk. This helps add a boost of energy that we will need to keep the kids occupied.

2. If traveling by plane, train or bus, I make sure to have anti-bacterial sprays or oils on hand such as On Guard, a blend of essential oils that help protect against germs and boost the immune system.

Wiping down the trays, the headrests and the seats, is a must, even putting a drop of the oil on the vent purifies the air.

3. The #1 staple on our trips that is a must have coconut oil!!! Its multifunctional use and antibacterial properties make too awesome not to buy or bring a bottle where ever we go!

Top 4 ways I use it when I am away:

- Cook with it. It withstands really high heat which is why I love to cook with it. I make eggs, grilled cheese, put it in your smoothies, or coffee. Its a great replacement for butter as well on your toast.

- Use it as a moisturizer for your skin (body and face) and can be used with all your essential oils. This is a great carrier oil! You can dilute all your oils with it.

- Great use for after-sun-care. It soothes the skin especially paired up with lavender, geranium and tea tea oil. Your skin will feel refreshed and rejuvenated.

- Use it as a makeup remover.

- If you have young kids, its amazing to soothe your babies bottoms with. Also pair it up with lavender and tea tree oil. Put in a leak proof container and it can easily be put in your diaper bag or carry-on to have it handy.

4. Most vacations require eating in restaurants three meals a day, so it tends to be difficult to eat healthy all the time. Just do your best at making good choices. Our "go to" breakfast meals are smoothies. Its gets all of us started on the right foot. Most places will have some place near by or at the hotel or all inclusive where you can get fresh smoothies or juices. One thing that I do as well is pack my favorite protein powder in a zip-lock bag and a green powder to add to water or a smoothie for extra nutrient content.

5. Try to make some of your own meals if you can. Its a great way to get to explore your new surroundings by finding a local health food store or shopping at a farmers market with fresh and local produce. I know you didn’t go on vacation to cook but sometimes its nice and beneficial to make your own when possible.

6. Bring your own healthy snacks: My husband and I always travel with Nut bars and raw nuts that are packed with nutrients, protein and energy. When you are on the go you need lots of that. We also bring fruit squishies that provide satisfaction and energy for my boys.

7. Exercise... Walking, jogging, biking, etc… is a great way to familiarize yourself in your new destination

8. Hydrate… lots of water. Adding a bit of lemon is always a bonus.

9. Bring your top 8-10 oils and blends with your diffuser:

1. Lavender is known as a great calming oil. Most commonly used for relaxation, to help reduce stress and promote a good night sleep. One thing that I did not know when I was first introduced to oils was how amazing it is for irritated skin and muscle and head tension.

2. Lemon is known as a great cleanser and detox so apply a drop in water can be very refreshing and good to support your overall health.

3. Tea tree is known as a first aid oil. So awesome to put a couple of drops in a spray bottle and to use it on your little ones when the fall and cut themselves. Other common uses when you are away is for ear aches, insect bites etc… the list goes on.

4. On Guard - Know as the immune booster blend. Protects against environmental threats which is why I love traveling with it so much. Ingredients include Wild Orange, Clove, Cinnamon, Eucalyptus, and Rosemary.

5. On Guard®+ Softgels are for the mamas and the papas who need a little extra immune support after running around with the kiddos. It has the all the ingredients above as well as Black Pepper, Oregano, and Melissa.

6. Oregano is another immune support oil and wonderful to dilute in a roller bottle for the whole family when needed.

7. Peppermint is known as a cooling oil. It has over 150 different uses such as supporting the respiratory system and clear breathing as well as digestive support. Many people find great relief to use on their temples when they feel some head tension.

8. Frankenscence is the King of all oils. When you are not sure what to use you can use this oil. It is so diverse and known to support healthy cellular function and for relaxation.

9. ZenGest is blend of oils that supports the digestion. It can soothe occasional stomach upset. Excellent for when you are away and in a new place in case you are having a hard time adjusting to new foods... Ingredients include, Ginger, Peppermint, Caraway Seed, Coriander Seed, Anise Seed, Tarragon, and Fennel Seed.

10. Wild Orange is a mood enhancing oil as well as a cleanser and purifier.

Our diffuser definitely travels with us. It improves the quality of our sleep so therefore it is a packing a priority. Diffusing Lavender and Wild Orange together is a beautiful blend. Hopefully everyone stays well and healthy but if anyone should feel a little under the weather the other oils are on hand in case. They don’t take up a lot of room and can be put in your carry-on so very easy to transport.
